"The Soprano's Last Supper" at Riviera

The Soprano's Review brought to you by What's On

I took my parents to see this show and my dad leaned over and told me he was ready to go home about halfway into the 90-minute presentation, shortly after Tony Soprano’s shrink came by and tried to pull him out of his chair for the Italian tarantella.

I was unsuccessful earlier at fending off the Uncle Junior impersonator and reluctantly danced to “That’s Amore.” If you’re a fan of “The Sopranos” you might find this interactive experience slightly amusing. I wasn’t really sure what to make of it being unfamiliar with the HBO series.

It began as a farewell get-together for Tony (who may have been going to the slammer—or on vacation, I’m not sure) with members of all the major crime families in attendance. But then it seemed to deteriorate into something of a talent show/dance party. I’ve heard that toward the end of the show Tony tries to uncover the person who ratted him out…which surely added a bit of intrigue to the presentation.

“The Soprano’s Last Supper” was recently transplanted to the Riviera. In its two former venues a dinner was served as part of the show, and I believe having some food to focus on—instead of the antics onstage—would hugely improve the entertainment factor.
